Jabali is of great historical importance. During the Boer war the English and Boers battled it out at Rhenosterkop. You will find all kinds of interesting artifacts around the mountain. Visit the graves of the English and the Boers and follow in the footsteps of the early pioneers.
Come and see the very special and endangered Blue Crane at Jabali.
The blue crane is displayed on South Africa's 5-cent coin and has been part of the country's heritage for many decades. In early days only the king of a tribe could wear the long blue crane feathers in his head-dress.
The blue crane is pale blue in colour with a white cap and soft brown eyes. It is one of only two species of crane that lack red facial coloration and when threatened, they are able to puff up their feathers on their heads to appear larger, much like the hood of a spitting cobra.
