Scientific name : (Phacochoerus aethiopicus) A  member of the pig family, Suidae (order Artiodactyla).

Description :
The warthog is a sparsely haired, large-headed, blackish or brown animal. It has a coarse mane extending from the neck to the middle of the back, and it has a long, thin, tufted tail that it carries high while it is running. The male has two pairs of bumps, or warts, on the face.
Habitat :
Warthogs live in holes in the ground where the young stay until they’re big enough to walk with their parents in the open. Avoids forests and dense cover.
Weight : max.100 kg.
Height : max. 76 cm. at the shoulder.
Tusks : Both sexes bear tusks, those of the lower jaw form sharp weapons, and those of the upper jaw curve upward and inward in a semicircle, attaining a length of more than 60 cm in some males.
Food : feeds on grass and other vegetation. They feed on roots, rhizomes bulbs sedges and grasses throughout the day and can often be seen on their front knees digging with the snout (not the tusks) to get at the roots of grasses and sedges. 
Habits : The warthog is a gregarious animal. It often shelters in enlarged aardvark burrows, which it enters backward so as to be able to defend itself. Usually seen in family groups or pairs.
Young : Birthing season June to October and having litters of about 3 - 5. Weaned by 6 months. 
Predators : Leopards, Hyena, Lion, Caracal, Jackal Cheetah and Wild dog. Young are especially vulnerable to all predators, even Eagles.
