East Africa from Kenya to South Africa.
Description : The stripes of a zebra are
unique on each animal, like fingerprints. Burchells zebra has evenly spaced dark and light
stripes others have broader light
stripes with faint shadow stripes between the thin dark lines.
Habitat : Adapted to a broad range of grassland habitats. Often found with
wildbeest, with whom they share a need to be no more that a day away from water.

Height : max.160 cm. (grevy's) - 140 cm. (burchell's), at shoulder.
Food : Grazer, but will browse in dry times. Zebra's tolerance of
taller and wetter grasses give it a far wider range than the wildebeest and gazelles.
Habits : A gregarious daylight active animal moving in herds of 20 to 100 or more.
During
rainy seasons, zebras sometimes form herds of 10,000 animals. They often move
with wildebeest and occasionally hartebeest or
roan.
Young :
Calving season peaks during height of rainy season. Maturity on 1/2 years, (f). Gestation period
12 months. Calves accompany mothers immediately, able to walk after 11 minutes
and run after 45 minutes..
Predators : Mainly Hyena and Lion.
Wild dogs have been known to hunt zebra. Symbiosis with
other species allows them to pool their defensive alertness. They have a tendency
to pack together around young when they are in danger. spotted Hyena always hunt
zebra in packs.
Lifespan : 20 years.
